Currently, we should improve our understanding of out-of-office blood pressure measurements and the clinical use of several available drug combinations according to their efficacy and tolerability in the single patients. We should also learn more about optimal blood pressure targets to be achieved in the general hypertensive population is specific subgroups at different cardiovascular risk.Alcohol ranks as one of the leading behavioral threats to health and life in developed countries. Alcohol abuse triggers serious social and economic effects it contributes to higher prevalence of work-related and road accidents, as well as absence from work. The diagnosis and treatment of alcoholism still remain very difficult. Hence, the use of objective biochemical markers of alcohol abuse may contribute to earlier detection, more effective therapy and reliable teetotalism control. The aim of this study is to present the sensitive and specific biomarkers of alcohol abuse available in Poland, with particular emphasis on the practical use possibilities. Such tests may be widely used, e.g., in driving license regranting cases involving drivers whose licenses were suspended for driving when intoxicated, for the early detection of persons abusing alcohol in employment-related health controls, for abstinence monitoring during withdrawal treatment, for detecting alcohol consumption in transplant settings, for assessing the prevalence of alcohol drinking in pregnancy, as well as in autopsical examinations. The standardization of biomarkers measurement methods is essential. Moreover, concomitant disorders may pose a significant problem in the proper outcome analysis. Despite these limitations, objective biochemical markers of ethyl alcohol abuse may become helpful tools in medical care. They can play a particular role in occupational medicine diagnostics, contributing to the higher level of safety on public roads and to worker safety. The chronic and severe nature of the symptoms and difficulties in maintaining balance and performing precise movements may cause the patient's withdrawal from professional activity. A frequently long period from the onset of the symptoms to the diagnosis of BVH, which should be based on the objective examination of the peripheral part of the vestibular organ, drastically reduces the chances of improving the patient's precise movement motility and significantly deteriorates the quality of life. Due to the fact that this disease most often affects professionally active patients in the sixth decade of their life, it can become the cause of a loss of the source of income. The publication presents a case report and examination methods of a patient with BVH caused by the administration of gentamicin in the course of phlegmon of the thumb. The case analysis was performed on the basis of a literature review on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with BVH. This is a review of the literature dated January 1, 2005-December 31, 2019, from the MedLine and Scopus databases. The prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders ranged 2.2-14.6% and 10.5-19.3%, respectively. Several risk factors were significant, such as having had blood exposure accidents, or the interaction between family and work life. The prevalence of mood disorders ranged 7.8-48%. Occupational constraints, such as night work or psychological demand, were related to the presence of mood disorders. This literature review showed the prevalence of disorders that can be reactive at work in hospital doctors. The risk factors studied can guide prevention policies within hospitals. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/blu-285.html Med Pr. 2021;72(2)163-71.In recent years, the number of recorded cases of infections causing Lyme borreliosis has been on a steady rise in Poland. A wide spectrum of disorders in the peripheral and central nervous system is observed in the course of such infections. Symptoms which are not clear-cut are reported by approx. 10-25% of all people infected with. They may concern both the somatic and mental spheres, which in turn significantly impedes the daily functioning of the patients. The main purpose of the research was to compare the mental health status of people with neuroborreliosis with that of healthy people. An answer was also obtained to the question of whether people with neuroborreliosis experience difficulties in functioning in the following areas family, social, professional and educational.
The study included 60 people 30 people with the diagnosis of neuroborreliosis and 30 healthy people aged 18-47. The mean age in the study group was 28.6 years. As a research tool, the (GHQ-28) by Goldberg was used along widiseases, including neuroborreliosis, and to adapt and implement appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures. Med. Pr. 2021;72(3).
The results of the study indicate some significant differences in the mental health status of people diagnosed with neuroborreliosis and that of healthy people. The patients obtained significantly higher results in GHQ-28 than the healthy subjects, which proves the poor mental health of the former. It was also confirmed that people diagnosed with neuroborreliosis experience difficulties in functioning in the social, professional and educational areas. Therefore, it becomes crucial to deepen research into mental health in tick-borne diseases, including neuroborreliosis, and to adapt and implement appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures. They have been used, among others, in the production of paints and dyes. In the European Union, 1-NA is classified as a toxic substance, and 2-NA and its salts as carcinogenic category 1A. The aim of this study was to develop a new method for the determination of NA, which will enable the determination of 1-NA and 2-NA and its salts in the working environment, in the concentration range of 0.3-6 μg/m.
The method consists in passing the test air containing the substances to be determined through a glass fiber filter impregnated with sulphuric acid(VI). After recovery with water and sodium hydroxide solution followed by extraction into a solid on Oasis HLB columns, the solutions in methanol are analyzed using a high-performance liquid chromatograph with a fluorescence detector and Ultra C18 column.
The method developed allows determining 1-NA and 2-NA and its salts in the concentration range of 0.
